While spring has sprung, summer is quickly approaching us. Now that 2020 is well in the rearview mirror, we can look forward to a summer shaping to be a return to normal. While summer is the time of year to enjoy the weather and have some fun, it is essential to take care of yourself during the busiest time of the year. Here’s a guide to a summer of healthy living.

 

1.Enjoy the outside world!
After a summer filled with quarantining and staying indoors due to COVID-19, It is time to enjoy the sunshine again. Go out for a run after a long day in the office to bookend your day. Ride your bike in the sun on the weekend. Enjoy a night out with friends that you haven’t seen in a long time. Enjoy doing the things that you love doing when it is the summer.

 

2. Don’t go all-in on the summer foods
Due to the warmer weather, you are bound to be spending your days in the sun doing something fun. Whether you are at the fair, the beach, or on the lake, you are going to get hungry. Enjoy the food while it lasts but don’t think this will be your routine during the summer. As delicious as those fish tacos sound after having them the first time, don’t succumb to the temptation.

 

3. Enjoy the hydration
As the temperatures begin to rise, so should your water intake. Make sure to drink at least 16 cups of water a day for men and 12 cups of water. Staying hydrated throughout the day will allow you to take on the days with more energy, a clearer mind, and a better protected immune system. Don’t get overworked in the sun by not drinking.

 

4. Hold the liquor
It may be 5 o’clock somewhere, but it isn’t 5 o’clock all the time. Summer is a great time to unwind and enjoy the simpler things in life, such as an alcoholic drink. Be careful with your alcohol consumption as too much alcohol can cause poor choices regarding both life and diet. You can avoid these consequences by drinking in moderation and remembering that less is more when drinking.

 

5. Have the best summer ever
Summer is a particular time of the year, and it should be treated as such. After months spent inside, it is the time of the year to go on vacations, cut yourself loose, and make some memories. It is essential not to be overindulgent, but don’t miss out on anything you want to do. That will make this a summer that you won’t forget.
